Ambigrams
Did you read the book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown - which actually is a prelude to the book "The Da Vinci Code"?
Well, I was quite caught by the word-art over there, which were called as AMBIGRAMS. Ambigrams are calligraphic creations that look the same when looked at straight or topside down.

If you have read the above mentioned books, then you would know that the protagonist's name is Robert Langdon. Surprising that our hero shares his last name with John Langdon who has designed all the ambigrams for the A&D novel.

//Coincidence or deliberate?//
I guess it could be deliberate. It's natural that Dan Brown could have used the guy's name who helped him in a major way to come up with ambigrams for this novel.
Btw, 'Angels & Demons' was the first Robert Langdon adventure, right?
mav... you are right. angels and demons was the first book by dan brown. he was a newbie at that time, and didnt garner much fame until DVC happened...
