Thotta-Churungi a.k.a Mimosa
Mimosa. "Thotta-Churungi" in Tamil. Grows in higher altitudes, where it can get abundance of water to grow and enough bright sunshine, and most importantly... clean air. The most notable aspect that we all know about it is that it responds to stimuli (touch/disturbance) by closing itself as if it wants to protect itself.
What I did not know all this while was that it is a flowering decoration plant. This picture was clicked on the wayside beside a farm near Kunigal on NH48 from B'lore to Hassan. You can see new leaflets and blossom buds growing at the apex. The flower itself is a treat to the eyes, light pink in colour and having a pin cushion like appearance, approx 1 inch in diameter. Sometimes there is a cluster of 3-4 such flowers together, which give the plant a very "happy" appearance.
