World Record 14th Consecutive Chase Win

This will also be known as the 2nd ODI played at Faridabad between India and England. India won the 14th consecutive ODI match playing second. Earlier record was set 20 years ago by the West Indies with 13 consecutive wins.


MoM - Suresh Raina. 81 runs in 89 balls with 8 fours and 1 six.

After a good start that went on till 61/0, India lost a 5 wickets in just 31 more runs to slump to 92/5. Dhoni and Raina partnered at the center to produce innings of controlled batsmanship and occasional aggression. With the 118 run stand that they were involved in, they rescued India from the (now a distant memory) middle order collapse.

As is so characteristic of the new Indian team, they dont seem to start looking strung up! The young brigade came to the rescue again. With a sterling match winning partnership, they took India home with an over to spare.

Amazing victory this, it also showed that India is beginning to have faith in itself and turning out to be a world-beating side. It remains to be seen if they truly are world beaters, for there are other great teams to battle with. SA and Australia. If they can repeat this trend against them and stay on till WC2007, am sure the next WC belongs to India.

PS: It was also 100th ODI outing for Andrew Flintoff. Well, he would have loved to turn the game the other way!
