The chinkaras ghosts will wander again!

Jodhpur Court stays the one year imprisonment sentence passed on Salman Khan, and setting the next hearing date for April.

More @ Rediff.

While the provision of a higher court being able to stay a lower court judgement is good in some situations, it is not in this situation. Why cant the higher court respect the judgement passed by a lower court, especially when the case is so very against the accused.

Lobbying, Pressure, High Level Contacts, Corruption... what else will impede the path of judgement in India? It is appalling to see this guy go scot free like this. And how would he celebrate his temporary freedom? Go to some other place and shoot a few other endangered species. Damn!

And the reason for appeal is when the 7 other accused were excused, why cannot Salman be?

I am sure that the lower court in its judgement would have had enough reasons to acquit the rest of the accused and penalise Salman alone. So what has changed suddenly now?

I know that anybody in this country has the right to appeal after being sentenced. But how long does this go? If Jodhpur court also rules it against Salman, can't he go to the Supreme court to challenge the verdict? SC, being the apex body has the final say in these case of appeals, is it?

Mav: SC does have the final say, and the buck stops there. Only the president of India can repeal it, if he wants, under some extremely special provisions called "Presidential Pardon". Every year, on Aug 15th and Jan 26th, the presidential pardons are given out the "deserving" prisoners.

In this case, I want to see some extremely special provisions called 'Presidential Whips' being handed to Salman even if SC acquits him
