So the umblical cord for IE is being cut...
[Podcast]
Microsoft decides to detach the IE from its Windows Explorer. This would end the privilege that IE had over other browsers in being integral to the Windows OS. Come October, Windows would separate the IE component and concede defeat to all the critics who have been warning Microsoft about the problems with integrating a full featured web browser into the OS. Windows Vista will not be bundled with IE and XP will receive a fix to decouple IE.
Would that signal the end of the IE era? Or is IE far too distributed and used to be chucked away like that?

Opera-Firefox era begins, if it hasnt already begun yet.
that would indeed be a good move.. i also hope that windows update can be performed using any browser and not just IE.. if not, it would again reinforce the belief that windows without IE is gonna be a myth..
TTM: Era has begun. You can tell by the way people are taking on to the Opera-FF choices over IE...
Mahesh: Yep. You said it!
